In September of 2006 I got to spend some time with friends in Portland, Oregon. (For cat enthusasts, see a page of pictures of their cat, Cindy Lou.)

While I was there, we drove to Spokane, Washington, for my sister's wedding; when we got back, we went out to the famous Oregon Coast and spent a night at a motel on the beach. We also visited a couple of public gardens in Portland. One was a Japanese garden, the other a rose garden -- Portland is known as the City of Roses.
