Zarzuela |

The Spanish version of operetta, performed with spoken dialog between musical numbers. Usually a little more "traditional" in its musical idiom; in other words, more tuneful, less tonally abstract. The plots tend to be romances, and the male romantic lead roles are usually sung by baritones rather than tenors. |
